Plasma-Beam Processing of Tools Made of SiAlON Dielectric Ceramics to Increase Wear Resistance When Cutting Nickel–Chromium Alloys

چکیده
This research aimed at an increase in wear resistance of round cutting plates manufactured with SiAlON dielectric ceramics through deposition wear-resistant coatings. To effectiveness the coatings, their adhesion was improved by removal defective surface layers from before deposition. As depth caverns and grooves appearing on due to manufacturing diamond grinding reached 5 µm, a concentrated beam fast argon atoms used for thickness exceeding grooves. At equal angles incidence front back surfaces wedge amounting 45 degrees, two-hour-long etching rotating provided ~10 µm surfaces. After removal, edge radius diminished 20 10 which indicates plates’ sharpening. Wear-resistant TiAlN coatings deposited after significantly improve processing stability not less than 1.7 times.

متن کاملComparison of Cutting Ceramics with Hard Metal Cutting Tools
Cutting ceramic tools are used especially at high cutting speeds in the machining process. The highly brittle type of structure and the tendency for cleavage (crack formation) are the infavorable properties of these materials, which keep their hardness at high temperatures. The hard metals are produced by sintering of the carbides such as whisker WC, TiC and TaC with the presence of Co as a bin...
متن کاملOptical Flank Wear Monitoring of Cutting Tools
An optoelectronic method for in situ monitoring of the flank wear of cutting tools is presented. The method is based on real time vision technology in which the tool is illuminated by the beam of a laser and the wear zone is visualized using a Vidicon camera. The image is converted into digital pixel data and processed, to detect the wear land width. Detailed aspects of the image processing pro...

In recent years, micro/nanoscale diamond cutting tools shaped by focused ion beam (FIB) has been developed to the deterministic fabrication of micro/nano-structures owing to its unprecedented merits of high throughput, one-step, and highly flexible precision capabilities. However, the exposure of a diamond tool to FIB will result in the implantation of ion source material and the irradiation da...
